Commuters advised of imminent roadworks

Trench work causing delays (File photograph)

Trench work will cause traffic delays along portions of main roads with one beginning yesterday, the Ministry of Public Works has warned.

The eastbound lane of Middle Road between George’s Bay Road and Evans Bay Road, in Southampton, was closed from yesterday until the end of the year for Belco roadworks.

The work will take place from 7.30am to 6pm every day and continue until December 31.

Starting on October 11, a portion of Harrington Sound Road from Town Hill Road to Lolly’s Well Road, in Smith’s, will also be closed for one week.

Only residents of Manor House Drive will be allowed access to the portion of road under construction.

Other traffic will be diverted to Middle Road or Harrington Hundreds Road.

A ministry spokesman said that any questions regarding the trench work should be directed to Belco project manager Jonathan Pedro on 295-5111 ext 1441.

Those with highway-related queries should call Tina Beer-Searle, the ministry’s acting principal highways engineer, on 501-3044.
