Everyone must show patience, awareness and respect for others on the island’s roads, the Bermuda Road Safety Council said.

The BRSC’s slogan for the month is “Two wheels, four wheels, one road for everyone.”

A statement from the organisation said: “It is important to recognise that we share the road with a diverse range of travellers – pedestrians, cyclists, motorcyclists and fellow drivers.

“Each one of us plays a crucial role in ensuring everyone's safety and wellbeing.”

Measures include staying alert, obeying traffic signs and speed limits, keeping a safe distance behind other vehicles, using turn signals, being cautious around vulnerable road users, checking blind spots and respecting other forms of transportation.

The statement added: “By fostering a culture of safety and respect, we can reduce accidents and ensure a more pleasant experience for everyone.

“Together, let’s make a positive impact by advocating for safer streets and demonstrating courtesy and consideration to fellow road users.

“Let's work together to create a safer and more harmonious road environment for everyone in our community.”
