Heavy rains have sparked the return of potholes across the island, but the Ministry of Public Works and Environment said it has picked up repair efforts in response.

A government spokeswoman reported that repairs were carried out on South Shore Road, Southcote Road, Marsh Folly Road, Crawl Hill and Spanish Point Road in recent days.

She said yesterday: “As a matter of urgency, ministry road crews were mobilised throughout the weekend and worked across the island to carry out repairs.

“These works focused on addressing immediate hazards caused by weather-related damage.

“The ministry notes that this weekend’s locations are only some of the areas addressed, and that crews will continue to fill potholes into the coming work week.”

The spokeswoman urged motorists to take extra care while driving, particularly after periods of heavy rain, and to keep an eye out for “temporary road conditions and active maintenance work”.

She added: “The Ministry of Public Works and Environment thanks the public for their patience and co-operation as efforts continue to maintain Bermuda’s road network during challenging weather conditions.

“The public is reminded that they can report any road deterioration via the GovAlert App, which can be downloaded for free from both the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store.”
