Motor Fest, the annual tribute to high-octane engines and street culture, has announced that Scooter Mart has signed a “multiyear agreement” as the festival’s title sponsor.

The event is returning on June 28 and will showcase vehicles from state-of-the-art electric cars to lovingly preserved classic motorcycles and cars.

This year, organisers promised the event would be “bigger, louder and more community focused than ever before”.

Motor Fest VIII also has the backing of 2B Motorsports, led by veteran promoter and motorsport advocate Billy Dunn, with David Cahill of Bermuda Charge remaining as a strategic adviser.

The festival on Front Street in Hamilton is billed as free and open-access, ensuring “every family, rider and enthusiast in Bermuda can experience the adrenalin-soaked atmosphere together”.

Mr Dunn said: “Taking the wheel of this festival is a dream and having Scooter Mart as our title sponsor provides the nitro we need to take this to the next level.”

Nick Thomson, Scooter Mart’s founder and president, said the island lived and breathed “two-wheel culture”.

He added: “Motor Fest represents the very best of Bermuda’s spirit — creativity, passion and togetherness.”

Mr Thomson said the festival was “a show you build” and called for “Bermuda’s finest” to get involved.

The Showcase Your Ride category includes entries ranging from custom-built masterpieces to “a vintage gem or a high-performance machine”.

Participants can also joint the ride-out for Motor Fest in the motorcade to close the event.

The 2B Motorsports street team is accepting volunteers for setting up, check-in or marshalling — and the group invited people with a flair for racing and stunts to get in touch to bring their skills to the show, as well as for competitive judging.

Organisers vowed to bring “more smoke, more style and more surprises”.
