Make your fitness journey that much sweeter

Like-minded community: Dre Hinds opened her gym doors to 18 individuals for a weekend of empowerment (Photograph submitted)

My heart is full. A weekend of like-minded individuals from different walks of life, both male and female, gathered together under one roof for three days. Energy buzzing. Smiles beaming. Feelings of fatigue, paired with strong will power and the notion to never giving up.

Infused Weekend.

What are you talking about, Dre? Well let me tell you, and I promise there's a point to my introduction.

This past weekend I opened my gym doors to 18 individuals who came with the sole purpose of stepping out of their comfort zone in search of inspiration and the desire to be surrounded by others who want to pour back into themselves.

For one evening and two mornings (yes, a weekend) we gathered at Hindssight Fitness & Wellness, immersed under the fantastic vibes of DJ iBreeze, completing four high-energy classes, diving deeper into nutrition, and developing a positive relationship with both exercise and food.

On these three occasions participants were allowed to reflect on their fitness and wellness journey, talk amongst themselves all with the end goal of feeling empowered, motivated, inspired and unstoppable. In fact, as the weekend progressed, the positive energy grew and the exchange of stories increased. The hugs were exchanged, the glasses were cheered and all in attendance left feeling less alone in this fitness and wellness journey, realising that everyone struggles, everyone succeeds, every learns lessons.

Was the event a success? Yes!

What’s my point? Continue reading, fitfam.

You see, sometimes this journey can seem lonely, boring, uninspiring, and the urge to give up can increase.

My challenge to you is to seek out a fitness and wellness community that you feel safe in, inspired by and encouraged to always do your best. If you can't find one, create your own.

When you feel like giving up, send out the SOS to your crew.

When you feel the energy of a friend decrease, lend an encouraging word and push each other.

Energy is contagious, so choose your community wisely.

And most of all, remember rule number one: Do Not Give Up! Do not give up on yourself, your abilities nor doubt how unstoppable you are. Own it, claim it and live in your purpose and go hard for yourself and your goals.

So now, as I come off the high of such an amazing weekend, knowing that many lives were transformed, I'll end with the known mantra: Remain unapologetic about your entire fitness and wellness journey. Stay true to yourself and always, always be honest with your efforts.

Fitfam! Happy Wednesday! Build your community. I promise the journey will be that much sweeter.
