Brittney Walbaum, a Saltus junior school student, said the needy little girl's family contacted her after she sent a help package with a coupon for a stamp and a small note.

The little girl's mother, Mryana, wrote a letter telling Brittney about their circumstances and enclosed a picture of two-year-old Mireya.

Friends Ellen Briers, Ffion Davis, Laura Ruse and Lara Loescher scraped together $100 during Brittney's birthday party sleep over. Brittney said: "I was surprised that we got a response back from them (Croatian family),'' and pledged to keep in contact with the Croatian family.
