A kid's-eye view of Carib Art
recently-concluded Carib Art Show. This is what they thought: "I liked seeing all the different mediums the artists used such as thread, wire, leather, cloth, wood, fur, sand etc. It gave me a lot of good ideas.'' -- Lisete Moniz "I liked looking at the paintings and feeling different feelings.'' -- Wayne Raynor "I liked the show because I saw many different types of paintings, collages, abstracts, sculpture, relief sculpture, symbolic art, intuitive painting, and of course realistic painting. I think I understood what many of the paintings were about, except some of them were a little confusing, especially those that Philippe Beaund did.'' -- Sarah Gallo "I liked the show because there were many varieties of paintings and sculptures. It was informative and educational. It was exciting to learn about other countries and then look at their art work. Some of the pictures made me sad, others made me happy and a few were confusing.'' -- Helen Larzleer "I liked the show because of all the different kinds of art we got to see. I also liked that some of the paintings were really, really big. I liked the abstract paintings and the designs and symbols I saw. I really liked the painting with trees with very green leaves and very green grass. I never knew there were so many kinds of green.'' -- Jason A. Smith "The show was so good that I would like to have it in the National Gallery forever!'' -- Fellon Rayner "I liked the Carib Art Show because I learned about the different artistic talents that people in the Caribbean islands have. I understood most of the art but the `End of a Journey for a Couple' was just too weird. I guess some art isn't meant to be understood.'' -- Lavonne Brown "This show was educational and a privilege to see. The paintings were really well done and many were unique, beautiful and exquisite. I congratulate all the artists for their work.'' -- Victon Anton "I liked the mysterious feelings in some of the paintings. It made me wonder what the artists were thinking.'' -- Shanae Mallory "The Carib Art Show is the best show I have ever been to. There was so much to see and so many feelings to feel. The bright colours made me feel joyful and inspired and I liked the symbols hidden in some of the work.'' -- Hanifah Taalib-din "The art in the show was different and new to my eyes. There was a surprise around every corner.'' -- Julliana Rayner "The paintings made me want to touch them and just disappear into them.'' -- Blake Raynor "There was a lot of variety in this show. It was great and it inspired me a lot.'' -- Jai-Michael Phillips "I enjoyed the show because I got to see what people in other countries think of as art. The pictures were beautiful and sometimes strange. The show made me want to rush home and paint a picture. I want to paint with more meaning.'' -- Daniel McLean
