All boys band hits new note as Ritasha welcomed aboard
A nine-year-old bugle player is using her talent to blow folks away.
For Ritasha Pedro, a student at Elliott Primary school, is the first female to ever play in the Corlanders Bugle Band.
Ritasha decided that she wanted to play the bugle because her younger brother played for the band.
After spending some time playing her brother's bugle after school, she decided she wanted one for herself.
Although Ritasha said she has been playing the bugle for only a few weeks, she has already performed in her first parade last week.
Being the only female in a group comes with a bit of pressure -- even for a youngster -- but Ritasha said the other members of the band made her feel special and welcomed.
"At first I felt shy, but then it was much better...I think lots of girls will be joining soon,'' she added with a smile.
