Be careful of the way you raise dogs
Dear Sir, I am writing to you about the dog attack on April 14, 1999 on Jennings Road, Smith's Parish. I can understand the couple's anger and frustration, but it's not the dogs' fault.
Regardless of the incident, it is a dog's nature to behave in a wild and abusive manner. The couple said they should make breeding dogs more difficult to do but that is where the problem lies. There are too many dogs on the Island already. I can feel the couple's pain because I lost my dog a few years back.
I would like to ask you and the couple how many dogs and cats are killed by motorists each year? Should we persecute these people who kill these animals or should we leave it as is, and nothing more? I would also like to ask if these "killer dogs'' are too dangerous or just not cared for the right way? I believe that Pitbulls, Rottweilers and Akitas are fine dogs to have. They can protect you and your loved ones. I do not agree with the fighting of these dogs at all. But why should people look badly on these dogs and not the people who train them? In all, I am basically saying keep the dogs chained and be careful of the way you raise them.
