The children entered the Bermuda Children's Museum Society T-Shirt Design Contest in which they had to create a t-shirt depicting "anything they enjoy doing or anything related to the Children's Museum,'' said BCMS event planning chairman Peggy Kett.

"It was asked that the designs be bold, bright and colourful,'' she said.

"The slack regulations left the children with a complete scope of imagination. There weren't really any limits, except it couldn't be anything violent.'' The entries were judged in three categories and drew more than 160 participants from nine nursery and primary schools.

Anna Nelson came out on top in the three-to-five-year-old age group, with honourable mentions presented to Jack Riker and Anna Clifford. The highly commended award went to Jeffrey Counsell.

Overall winner of the six-to-eight-year-old category was Anna-Louise Horsfield closely followed by the honourable mentions of Alesha Page and Peter Sousa.

Luisa Olander's design was highly commended.

And first prize in the nine-to-12-year-old group went to Edward Thompson.

Honourable mentions were awarded to Carl Soares and Vanessa Smith with Jacqueline Faries and Stacee Smith being highly commended.

Each winner received the first t-shirt printed with their original design, one-year family memberships to the Maritime Museum and the Children's Museum, a gift voucher to the Children's Bookshop, and a certificate of merit.

"There are many talented children in Bermuda and we have been impressed with the creativity of the entries,'' said Mrs. Kett.

The artwork of all contest participants will be on display at City Hall until today.
