The Saltus Cavendish School pupil decided to hold a party when he celebrated his seventh birthday recently.

But instead of asking his friends to buy him a birthday gift he suggested that they all donate money.

And now Jeffrey has been able to present a cheque for $465 to the Patients Assistance League and Service charity thanks to the generosity of both himself and his friends.

Jeffrey made the donation in memory of his great grandmother, who shared the same birthday as the youngster. Sadly she died two years ago.

PALS president Ann Smith Gordon said: "I think it's wonderful that somebody who has just turned seven would be so generous not to expect presents and instead ask his friends to make a donation to PALS.

"We have lots of people who we can help thanks to Jeffrey's kind donation.'' Best of pals : Jeffrey Olson (centre) hands over a cheque to PALS president Ann Smith Gordon (left) while Jeffrey's mother Karen looks on.
