Here are two more of the entries which won awards in the United Bermuda Party
Last week, we carried a selection of winning efforts. More than 400 young people, from five to 19 years old, took part in the contest. The winners received cheques.
`The Bermuda in which I want to live' By Jameka S. Kelly Bermuda College The Bermuda in which I want to live in, in the future and now will be drug free. Operation Cleansweep will still exist and be continually successful.
Bermudians will be able to walk freely around their neighbourhoods without fear of being exposed to the sights of drug dealing, drug use, and violence. I want to live in a Bermuda that has once dysfunctional families changing into stable and nourishing families. A Bermuda that has youth setting goals for their lives and meeting them successfully. Youth, no longer falling to the grasp of peer pressure. I want to live in a Bermuda that has low teen pregnancy rates. A Bermuda where teens are able to save themselves for marriage without being criticised or forced to give in to pre-martial sex.
Premaritial sex that holds fatal consequences. I want to live in a Bermuda where people are treated as equals regardless of their social status, race, or religion.
Wants for Bermuda in the future are like wishes, they only come true if you believe in your heart that they can come true. The want for a better Bermuda to live in for present and future generations can only be seen if all Bermudians believe a change can happen. If all Bermudians work toward the Island's changes and come together, the Island's wants can truly become reality.
