KBB give youths a lesson in recycling

Keep Bermuda Beautiful have begun a programme of teaching recycling in schools to students particularly during Recycling Week.

KBB coordinator Lennox Boodram said he got the idea after talking with 17-year-old Berkeley Institute student Kenneth Brangman about a project he was doing for his English language class.

Kenneth approached the KBB for information about recycling for his project which was centred around the Earth's resources being depleted and how mankind could help prolong the supply.

"I wrote about how we use up most of our resources like wood, minerals, and water,'' he said, "and how recycling can reduce waste.'' Mr. Boodram said he was impressed by Kenneth's work and had spoken at his school and at Clearwater Middle School recently.

Daltonell Minors, a teacher at Clearwater, said students in her class had completed projects recently and showed their work to Mr. Boodram. She said: "He came down and made a presentation and gave out T-shirts. It was very interesting about Recycling.'' Mrs. Minors added: "This was a maths project and they had to do graphs to show estimates of how much they had recycle and make estimates for a month and one year.'' Mrs. Minors said her class also had to do oral presentations and a comparative study between Bermuda and the US.
