Kind Warwick Academy raises $10,000 for charity

Ten thousand dollars is this morning being donated by Warwick Academy students to help 100 needy children attend summer camps and purchase school uniforms.

The money was raised by the Warwick Academy students during their annual Random Acts of Kindness Day held on March 18. Over 1,00 people participated in the event. Co-organiser of the event, Steve Thompson said the move "demonstrates generosity and commitment by Warwick's students in assisting public school students and the more fortunate reaching out to the less fortunate in our Island''.

"Generally people ask Government to do more for them'' he added. "In this case it is the other way around and it is Warwick Academy who wished to help Government. It is indeed a first for Bermuda in my view and the students deserve a great deal of praise for their efforts.'' The cheque will be presented to Health Minister Nelson Bascome.
