Math/Science week begins at BHS
projects carried out by students from the Bermuda High School for Girls next week.
The activities will be part of the school's Math/Science Week -- May 3 through May 7.
Students from ages 11 to 16 will be encouraged to continue to develop their critical thinking and creative problem solving skills.
BHS teachers George Rodrigues (science) and Howard Walter (Math) are producing the annual event and creating new competition activities each year.
"Thanks to their preparation in Math and science at BHS, our young women will indeed be successful in these male-dominated arenas and can have fun doing so,'' a school spokeswoman said.
The events, which are to take place in BHS' Queen Elizabeth Hall between 10 a.m. and 2.30 p.m. except on Thursday when it will be from 9.20 a.m. to 2.30 p.m., are: egg dropping on Monday; aircraft construction on Tuesday; rocket launching, to be held on school field if weather permits on Wednesday; and scale model construction on Thursday.
