Paget Primary children use talents to help club

The art work of three Paget Primary students will be used as posters to promote the Pembroke Rotary Club's Children's Fair on February 12.

The students in Primary Five teacher Erma Nisbett's class were asked to paint pictures of things they liked about last year's fair and clowns were the hot topic.

"I sent 16 pictures in and the Rotary Club decided on which ones to use for the posters,'' said Mrs. Nisbett.

Malcishia Outerbridge, Richena Tavares, and Jeremy Fox said they were shocked to find out their paintings would be turned into posters and placed in stores around Hamilton.

Rotary Club member and chairman of the fair committee, Vicki Abraham, said clowns were the theme for this year's fair.

"Over the years Paget Primary has been one of the biggest supporters of the fair,'' said principal Wendell Smith. "I guess that was why they asked us to do the art this year.'' Paget Primary always makes it a point to get parents and students involved in the fair, he added. They get parents to sell raffle tickets and encourage students to attend the fair.

Nearly $50,000 was raised at last year's fair and the Pembroke Rotary Club expects this year to be even better.

The schools which participate in selling the raffle tickets for the fair get to keep a large portion of the money from the ticket sales.
