THE GREATEST! -- Charles Wilkinson and Dionne Walker emerged winners of the 1997 Big Brother and Big Sister of the Year contest. The awards were based on essays written by 11-year-old Khy Burgess, pictured with his Big Brother, Mr.

Wilkinson, and China Nisbett, also 11, who is seen with her Big Sister, Mrs.

Walker. The essay topic was: "Why my Big Brother or Big Sister should be Big Brother or Big Sister of the Year''. The awards were presented to Mr.

Wilkinson and Mrs. Walker at a lunch, held each year to honour Big Brothers and Little Sisters for their commitment to young people. Eleven people wrote essays. Judges were education officer Shangri-la Durham Thompson, school principal Dale Butler and retired youth librarian Florenz Maxwell. The winning essays are printed below.
