Every Wednesday between 2.30 p.m. and 3.30 p.m. Spice Valley Middle School students engage in 22 different activities under the direction of their teachers.

The activities include Taebo, Arts and Crafts, collage, board games, soccer, flag football, volleyball, computers, gardening, field hockey, choir practice, dance, squash, bowling, drama, chess, and netball.

At the beginning of each term, the students select activities in order of preference. Their first, second, and third choices are handed in to deputy principal Earl Hart who places the students in their respective activities.

"The activity period is a vital part of life at Spice Valley Middle School,'' Mr. Hart said. "The students choose activities every term -- three times a year.'' Powerful punch: M3 student Andrea Warren delivers a powerful serve during a game of volleyball at Spice Valley Middle School in Warwick.

My turn: Twelve-year-old Joshua Hill, of M2, carefully contemplates his next move during a game of chess.

Bringing it together: Librarian and teacher Carmen Mitchell helps M1 student Hannah Collins with a collage during activities day at the school.

Possession! Former professional footballer and Bermuda Football Association's technical director Clyde Best has a hard time taking the ball from M1 student Sean Perinchief during a soccer lesson.

Top spin: Jaban Tuzo, 11, of M1 barely misses his opponent's smashing delivery during a game of table tennis on Spice Valley's activities day.
