Council, Kenneth Caesar is leaving with pride and fulfilment.

"The biggest accomplishment is to see a Student Government at Bermuda College,'' said Kenneth.

First elected into the Student Government Council in October of 1997, Kenneth has watched the organisation grow from having little foundation into a campus body which is providing for student needs. His personal life has also gained from his time with the Student Government Council.

He said he has had "a lot of personal growth and development by being able to network with people in the community''.

Kenneth added that through his terms he has gained "insight into different organisations''.

As for the past year, Kenneth said he believed everything that he set out to accomplish had been and that the Student Government was in the process of building campus spirit.

Reflecting back on student involvement, he said: "Bermuda College is a commuter college and students don't spend as much time there.'' Kenneth credited activities such as Spirit Day, Political Rally, Student Mailboxes, and The Student Government's push to open the library after regular hours as some of the accomplishments due to student involvement.

He said he hoped that the Student Government would "continue to build a solid foundation for the students at the College to ensure student voices are being heard''. As for his future plans, Kenneth said: "I am going to Morehouse College to pursue a bachelor in psychology. And one day I hope to become a politician.

"My career in Student Government has put me in that position.'' Kenneth also pointed out that many past Student Government presidents have gone on to having careers in the political arena.

His successor, Nathan Samuels, is still undecided on his career path. With the reins placed firmly in his hands, the incoming president of the Student Government Council said: "I'm looking forward to it.'' But Nathan is aware that this will not be an easy task.

The former Warwick Academy student and Devonshire Colts player said he was: "Ready to get back into it (student government). Push for student involvement.'' Being elected this past April, the new president began his Student Government career last year while serving as a senator at large. At first when he was approached about the idea of running he recalled: "It didn't appeal to me, with school and church and other commitments.

"But Kenneth convinced me that it would be worthwhile to get involved with college life and working with others.'' Nathan's aim for the upcoming year is to continue with the process that has been started by the past year's student government, while ultimately sharing new ideas which he and the new executive might have.

He is striving to "get the student government popular with students''. And Nathan said he would like to see an "increase in communication'' between the council and students. He also has plans to promote the student newspaper and yearbook.
