Outward Bound School in Florida to complete their Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme Silver Awards.

Group Leader Gerry Renshaw said the students, between the ages of 14 and 15, undertook four days of canoeing and navigating to gain their silver medals.

"Perhaps the most challenging aspect was paddling through the night during our recent lunar eclipse,'' Mr. Renshaw said. "This challenged all of their recently learned navigational skills as well as their stamina, trying to reach their goal before the tide turned.'' Mr. Renshaw said the students were surrounded by "marvellous'' wildlife and even spotted dolphins jumping ahead of their canoes.

All the students, he added. successfully gained their silver medals.
