Wising up on life skills
Primary School.
And by introducing a Junior Secretary Programme, the school is one step closer to achieving its aim.
So far, 12 students between Primary Three and Six have received on-the-job training at the law firm Appleby, Spurling & Kempe.
The youngsters spent various mornings with legal secretaries who taught them how to greet clients, answer the telephone, transfer calls, deliver messages, package coins, stamp and sign out books, retrieve information from a legal library, organise work space and use office equipment.
They also learned how to present themselves in a professional manner while displaying good conduct and deportment at all times.
And this month, another 21 students will also train with the firm. In addition to day release at AS&K, the students practice various office duties during their manners, language arts and life skills lessons.
ON THE JOB -- East End Primary School students Jackie Rattery, standing, and Asha Foggo-Greaves put into practice the office skills they learned during the school's Junior Secretary Programme.
