Dellwood honours former teacher
On December 12, 2008 Dellwood Middle School had a community service day.
It was in memory of our past Deputy Principal, Mr. Ray Smith. The whole school had to take part on this day.
Ray Smith Community Service Day is a day in which Dellwood Middle School teachers and students help clean up the community.
Each class had a different area around the Dellwood Middle School community to clean up.
The M2 team cleaned around places such as Bernard's Park, and Parson's Road Playground.
Renisha Trott, a fellow M2 student, said, "Ray Smith Community Service Day was, fun and in memory of Mr. Smith. We love the community."
Community Service Day was a day to give back to the community, and that's what everyone did. Jameko Gomes, another one of the M2 participants said, "It felt great to be helpful to the community."
We went out in the blazing hot sun to pick up trash and even recycle.
Everyone was complaining about it being so hot on a winter day, but after we all got out there and started having fun, we forgot all about the heat.
At the end of the day, after all the complaining, heat, and hard work, it was all worth while. Giving back to the community is a very important thing to do.
