Having fun at Wesley Methodist fair
On Sunday, October 12 there was a Family Fun Day at my church, Wesley Methodist Church on Church Street, in Hamilton from 1pm to 4pm.
There was face painting and a fun castle. There were hot dogs and pizza. Upstairs in the Sanctuary there was a puppet show about goodness and kindness. Mrs. Manuel read us stories "Mean Dog", "No David!" and "The Very Hungry Caterpillar".
l liked listening to the stories. There were also books and dvds to buy. My mommy bought me brownies. I liked spending time with my family and church friends.
Candace's sister Samaria added, "I liked the Family Fun Day. It was nice to spend time with my Nana and Pa. I had brownies and got a tattoo. I ate a hot dog and a pizza. They were delicious. The fun castle was nice too."
In addition to the usual baked goods, white elephant, book and plant stalls, there were flower-arranging demonstrations, face painting and activities for young children. The older teen church members helped with the games.
One of the teens, Sarah Daniels, reported, "I helped out with the games for the older kids. We played games like throwing rings onto water bottles, bowling and darts. The games were held in the upstairs choir room. Supervising the games were a few adults with the help of teens Nick Smith, Matthew Smith, Ke-Anne Adcock Smith, Brandon Morris, and Hailey Manual.
"There were about 10 or 15 kids playing the games; most of them were downstairs doing the other activities. The fair had a pretty good turnout; it was a nice amount of people because it wasn't empty but not crowded."
