My life as a Muslim

Life as a Muslim is more exciting than most people think. Some people believe that Muslims cannot do anything, and live in a closed box. Fortunately, this is not at all true.

Muslims can do most of the things other people do. If you got to know one well, I do not think you would be able to tell the difference.

Generally, people think that Muslims cannot do anything fun, because it will take time away from prayer.

That is not true. The key is to balance the two. You cannot do one without the other, because that would make anyone crazy.

I am a Muslim. A normal day in my life is not too different from anyone else's.

I wake up, brush my teeth, eat breakfast, and go to school. There I do my work and then eat lunch with my friends. At home I do my homework, watch TV, or go on Facebook.

Then I have dinner and go to sleep. The only thing I really do different in what I just wrote is that I pray a little more. Other than that, it is the same as everybody else's day.

In an Islamic year, Muslims all over the world celebrate special holidays. There is Eid Al Adhah and Eid Al Fitri.

In both celebrations there is a feast, but the one held at Eid Al Fitri is especially delicious, because it celebrates Ramadan's end.

During Ramadan, Muslims fast during the day. To do this, they wake up before dawn to eat and drink, so that they would not be too hungry or thirsty during the day.

They are not allowed to put anything into their mouths until sunset.

There are things that excuse you from the fast, such as being sick. They just have to make sure that they make up that day before the next Ramadan.

In conclusion, being a Muslim is not how many people picture it.

It does have a few restrictions, but other than that it is basically the same as being a follower of any other religion.

I hope that when people read this, they will stop making unfair prejudices about Muslims.
