A safe bet: an entertaining and inexpensive way to spend a Saturday afternoon is bowling with friends - beginners welcome.

Most teens in this generation either like to sleep or eat and do more eating. Some say it's because there isn't much to do in Bermuda. Despite Bermuda's poor reputation in this regard, there are still quite a few places where teenagers can hang out for under $10 Here are some specific spots where you and your friends can stay out of trouble and enjoy yourself.

Fort Hamilton

You can simply wander through the fort and the floral gardens, which delight those who enjoy military history as well as those who are interested in flora. Be sure to take in the beautiful views of Hamilton and the harbour while you're there. Perhaps you can spot your house if you live in a central parish.

Cost: simply bring a packed lunch and the fort is yours to explore with friends.

Snorkel Park

Located at the Royal Naval Dockyard, you will surely enjoy a day or even two at the Bermuda Snorkel Park. With a host of attractions and activities designed for people of all ages, including teens, you will not lack for something to do. If you get tired and want something to eat, their restaurant and bar has excellent food and drinks to offer you. Or you can join in a game of volleyball where you will be able to have fun and get a work out at the same time. Take the slow ferry, and you get a tour of Hamilton Harbour and Somerset shoreline as well for a few dollars extra.

Movies

Whether you're in the east or the west of the island or right in the middle there's a movie theatre for you. There is no effort required but to sit, back, relax and watch the movie while enjoying loads of popcorn and your friends company.

Mini Golf

If you can't get a tee time at a full-length golf course, or just wish to pass a few hours improving your stroke, the Mini Golf is just for you. This way if you're not the best of golfer you can still possibly get a hole in one and it is not so intense. It is an 18 hole golf course, and you can go at your own speed, so you won't feel embarrassed if you take a little longer then some of your friends. You just need to make sure you have nothing planned for the rest of the day.

Bermuda Aquarium, Museum and Zoo

Nature tripping is definitely a must for teens, especially for those who love animals. The Bermuda Aquarium, Museum and Zoo is home to more than 300 birds, mammals, and reptiles. The Aquarium is home to more than 200 different fish species. Designed especially for children and teens, the Discovery Cove and Local Tails offer an interactive educational experience, so when at school you will already have a bit of knowledge when the teacher decides to give you a pop quiz on different species.

Beaches

Regardless of the parish you live in, there's a beach near to where you live, so the decision is which one to choose. Just pack a picnic lunch and sun block and relax in the sun and there isn't any further effort required. Don't forget your swimsuit and towel!!

Dolphin Quest

Almost everyone loves dolphins, and surely if you don't now, you will by the time you leave Dockyard. You can find the dolphins at the Bermuda Maritime Museum in Dockyard. They offer a variety of programs and activities for kids of all ages. If you really love dolphins, you can enjoy a close up experience and swim the dolphin and also feed them.

Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute

The Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute can be a pioneer in redressing that lunatic imbalance. By focusing on everything from marine biology to the technology of underwater exploration and deep-ocean ecology, by offering the public glimpses of all the wonders beneath the surface, the Institute will foster a greater appreciation and understanding of this last critical frontier.

Bowling

Spending an afternoon at the bowling alley is a great way to spend a rainy afternoon. East enders can try out the lanes at Southside Family Bowl, while those living in the western parishes have easy access to the Warwick Lanes.

Paget Marsh

The pond and marsh are home to an array of wildlife, including many species of resident and migratory birds. As you walk around, the signs present the story of this marsh, from how it developed to how it is being preserved today. You can spend as much time as you like and explore as long as you wish. Don't forget your camera, as there is great assortment of things you would like to capture including yourself with the wildlife, and this can be the perfect scene for a photo shoot with you and friends.
