The day, and night, Hurricane Igor struck
The buzz that Hurricane Igor was growing stronger and stronger filled the air. As I drove along the South Shore, people were lined up to take a peek at the crashing waves. The sea was misty and the waves rumbled against the rocks. I kept wondering to myself, 'Is this really happening?'
I got to the Fairmont Southampton Hotel and dashed down to the games room so that I could play ping-pong. The room was cluttered with little children. As people passed me by they gave me a slight smile. Under their eyes, though, I could sense the fear – all these children, yikes!
I went to my room and lay on the bed. I listened to the howling of the wind. Its strange moaning soon lulled me to sleep.
The sound of my baby cousin crying woke me up. I looked outside and saw the bright sun shining. There were trees strewn across the lawns. It definitely looked like something had happened while I slept.
On the drive home I noted the broken branches and leaves that littered the roads.
It looked like some angry giant had been on a rampage and stomped his way through our island.
