Fixing it with help and determination
Recently, CedarBridge Academy hosted the “100 Men on Campus” event, which involved male students, teachers, fathers, grandfathers and members of the community. April 19 began with the male students immediately going into workshops, held in various classrooms around the school. Each workshop was motivational and all male students seemed to be engaged in the presenters’ words. We had presenters from places such as Marine and Ports, King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, Butterfield Bank and the Bermuda Football Association.During Advisory, all of the male students were taken into Ruth Seaton James auditorium where we were given strong words of encouragement from the director of the event, Mr Eric Bean, and our invited guest, Rev Pedro Castro. The main spectacle that occurred during our time in the auditorium was when our Head Boy casually smashed a clay plant pot. Selected students were then asked to put the pot back together. We were all shocked the following day when we saw the pot intact, sitting at the entrance of the school as we entered. The message was, “No matter how much you get hurt, with help and determination, you can fix it”.Overall the day was amazing. Many male students participated and decided to dress in professional attire. Some students gained internships and others gained lifelong friendships by participating in the day. Overall, “100 Men on Campus” day was a success. It has become a valued tradition for CedarBridge Academy.
