Social media: Making the world a better place

CedarBridge AcademyI read the Young Observer last week and wished to share my thoughts on social media and how it has affected me as a student.Social media has affected me since I was 10-years-old, at the age of 10 my brother had given me his old cell phone and from that point a bond was formed.Over the years social media has been as an asset to my personal growth as an individual. The technology that has come out of social media has enriched my knowledge and has opened my mind to how other people live.I am a person who likes to learn about different cultures and is interested in how the citizens of the planet earth live. You can learn so much from watching how different countries celebrate different holidays. You can also travel to places around the world without paying thousands of dollars. I can climb the Himalayas with a click of a finger. I can walk on the Red Square in Moscow in my history class.Social media has opened so many doors for me in many different ways. It is shaping my generation in to brilliant citizens that are ready to help the world. In the year 2013 most of the powerful and influential people in the world get their messages out via social media outlets. In my opinion it’s moving the world in to a better place.
