Young poets shine in competition
The Warwick Academy primary poetry competition was organised by the Year 6 extension literary group.
This year there were three categories: Years 1 and 2, Years 3 and 4, and Years 5 and 6.
There were many entries and Miss Taylor, the head of English, was the judge.
Year 1 and 2 winner was Jackson Alvera, Year 3 and 4 winner was Isabelle Shelley, and Year 5 and 6 was Ciara Mello.
Present from Santa
On a dark, dark, night
With nothing else in sight,
A tiny little sleigh
Was on its jolly way.
Down, down below
Was a pretty little house.
There was boy sleeping,
As quiet as a mouse.
Santa jumped up off his sleigh,
Went down the chimney, all dark and grey.
He took the mince pie off the tray,
Then he got up and on his way.
He got a present from his sack,
And filled the boy’s sock at the end of the bed.
He put his sack on his back,
Went up the chimney and away he sped.
