Applications sought to become Islands North American advertising agency
Government is on the lookout for an advertising agency to carry out its media plan in the US and Canada.
The Department of Tourism has lodged a Request For Proposal, indicating in the Official Gazette its seeking a firm to create, develop and execute an integrated campaign.
Bermuda has been without an agency since GlobalHues controversial contract expired on March 31.
That two-year $28 million deal earned heavy criticism after it was handed to GlobalHue without being put out to tender despite a scathing Auditor Generals report into the way it was already operating.
Former Premier and Tourism Minister Ewart Brown has denied allegations that he gave favourable treatment to GlobalHue as its boss Don Coleman was a long-standing friend.
After replacing Dr Brown, Premier Paula Cox set up a Procurement Office under the watch of her Finance Ministry, to ensure future contracts are handed out fairly.
The RFP for a new advertising agency, placed in the Bermuda Sun yesterday, states: Bermuda Department of Tourism promotes and sell Bermuda as a leisure, corporate and meetings destination.
The right partner is one that can plan and execute and advertising strategy designed to raise awareness and ultimately drive visitation to the Island.
We are seeking a partner who can demonstrate a high level of proficiency and energy. Ultimately, success will be measured in accordance with the agencys ability to deliver business. Media exposure, response and conversion rates are key with the greater emphasis being placed on conversion and visitation.
Applications must be sent to BermudaAdvFRP[AT]bermudatourism.com by December 9.
