BSX rises on quiet week

Two stocks advanced and two declined on The Royal Gazette/BSX Index last week, resulting in the Index closing at 1,357.71, up 3.59 (0.26 per cent).

Shares in Bermuda Press (Holdings), the parent company of this newspaper, rose 50 cents (7.1 per cent) to $7.50 after 1,200 changed hands.

Butterfield Bank shares improved by one cent (0.5 per cent) to close at $2.00 after 5,660 were traded.

Insurance company BF&M saw its shares drop 25 cents (-1.4 per cent) to $17.75 after 1,300 were exchanged, while there was a fall of 35 cents (-3.60 per cent) for HSBC Holdings’ shares, which closed at $9.35 after 21,482 were traded.

There was no change to the closing price of Ascendant Group shares after 19,000 were exchanged last week. The shares remained at $5.40.
