Carey Olsen lauded in Chambers guide
Carey Olsen Bermuda has been lauded for making “real inroads into the private client area” in the 2020 edition of the Chambers High Net Worth guide with one commentator noting that the firm is now “top for this in Bermuda”.
The firm, which was launched at the end of 2017, has quickly established itself as a leading player in the Bermuda legal market.
It was ranked by Chambers HNW for the first time last year and has built on that impressive debut with another set of impressive rankings and reviews in this year’s edition.
Partner Keith Robinson leads the individual rankings for Bermuda lawyers as the only lawyer to be ranked as a Band 1 practitioner for “offshore trusts” while counsel Ashley Fife has moved up in the rankings and is now ranked in Band 2.
Mr Robinson, who has more than 20 years’ experience of a wide range of private wealth and trusts litigation and advisory work, is head of the trusts and private wealth practice at Carey Olsen Bermuda. He is acknowledged by sources as a “first-rate lawyer” and “a long-term strategic partner on significant contentious matters”. Other market insiders praised him as “excellent technically”.
Ashley Fife, a member of the trusts and private wealth practice and the current chairman of the Bermuda branch of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners, is described as “a real-up-and-comer” and someone “making a name for himself”. Another source said: “We are very reliant on him, his manner with staff is exemplary and he is a very talented lawyer.”
Mr Robinson said: “Our practice group, like the wider Carey Olsen Bermuda offering, continues to go from strength to strength and it is fantastic for this to be recognised in such a positive fashion by Chambers. We thank our clients for providing outstanding feedback and for their instructions and our whole team for their continued commitment and hard work.”
