Wins for Conyers and Miller

Caitlin Conyers and Alexander Miller claimed their first wins in this season’s Fat Tire Massive Mountain Bike Series at Lagoon Park in Sandys yesterday.Conyers success came in the Female Open 60 minutes category, finishing the challenging course of six laps in a winning time of 1hr 36sec. She was more than two minutes ahead of second-place Nicole Mitchell.In the Male Open 60 Minutes category, Miller, who finished second in the series opening two rounds, finally secured top spot in the podium, crossing the line in 1:05:02, slightly more than a minute ahead of Liam Flannery, with Alan Potts taking third place.In the Male Open 30 Minutes category, Clive Langley proved victorious in a winning time of 38:40, ahead of Raphael Brunorio and Tony Wood, while in the Female Open 30 Minutes race, Jennifer Lightbourne took victory in 38:20, finishing ahead of Caroline Wright and Zoe Hasselkuss.In the 13 to 16 class, Monty Hastings, Ahzai Smith and Gordon Smith juggled positions in the opening surge but by the third lap, Gordon Smith claimed his first season win. Ahzai Smith settled for second, with Hastings completing the podium.In the 12 and under race, Jackson Langley took the honours finishing narrowly ahead of Harris Fleming and Tyer Coleman.Racing returns in the New Year with round four at Southlands on January 26.
