Place of beauty: historic Inwood is on the market for $4.2 million

Inwood is a glorious estate, steeped in history.

The main house was built in the 1700s and has many features typical of that era: high ceilings, cedar beams and large, raised fireplaces.

Subsequent owners have maintained its “charm and character” through the years.

The Paget property sits on four acres of land at 9 Stowe Hill. Rego Sotheby’s International Realty has it on the market for $4.2 million.

“[Inwood is] an exclusive estate of historic significance located in sought after central Paget parish comprising of four acres of gracious grounds,” said Rhonda Casling, the property’s listing agent. “The two-storey main house, built in the 1700s for Colonel Francis Jones, was built using the finest materials, such as Bermuda Cedar, throughout.”

Noted features include “high ceilings with beautiful cedar beams, large raised fireplaces and panelled walls and wood floors”.

“The Bermuda cedar staircase to the second storey is original and a classic example of fine workmanship,” the realtor added. “Upstairs you will find the three bedrooms, three bathrooms and a library. All are bright rooms with plenty of light and ventilation, allowing a constant breeze. There is also a beautifully renovated two-storey, three-bedroom cottage of the same vintage, located just far enough from the main house to ensure privacy.”

The size of the property means it could easily be divided and can also accommodate further development.

Said Ms Casling: “Of the four acres there are two lots that could be sold separately or used to build on if one wanted to keep family property. This property has been lovingly maintained preserving the true charm and character.”

A “huge” garage on the property would also be suitable for use as a workshop.
