A 41-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of drink-driving after a man suffered serious injuries after he was hit by a car.

The 62-year-old man, who has not been named, was said by police to be in critical condition in the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital’s intensive care unit yesterday. A police spokesman said the woman, from St George’s, had been released on police bail.

He added her car had been impounded.

The man was injured as he walked on North Shore Road, near Trinity Church Road, in Hamilton Parish about 3pm on Thursday.

Police have appealed for witnesses.
