Bristol City in for Wells

Wanted man: Nahki Wells

Nahki Wells has been strongly linked with a permanent move to Sky Bet Championship side Bristol City before the January 31 transfer window deadline, according to media reports.Wells has been in superb form this season, scoring 14 goals, including five this month, for Championship side Queens Park Rangers, where he is on loan from Burnley. The Premier League outfit are set to recall Wells from his second loan spell at QPR ahead of any sale and could try and take advantage of City’s interest in the forward to help them get midfielder Josh Brownhill to head in the opposite direction this summer. The Bristol Evening Post have reported that struggling Championship side Wigan are also interested in Wells, whose contract expires this summer.Burnley signed Wells for £5 million in 2017, but the 29-year-old made only nine substitute appearances for them during the 2017-18 season.City, where Shaun Goater spent two seasons before his career-defining move to Manchester City, are chasing promotion and are eighth in the table, six points ahead of QPR. Wells has expressed his desire to sign for QPR on a permanent deal and it is believed the West London club are also weighing up an offer for the player. He scored a controversial goal in QPR’s 1-0 win over Leeds United last weekend, with the camera replay showing the ball hit Wells’s arm before finishing from close range.
