The Bermuda Foundation for Insurance Studies has held its final event of the summer for its scholarship programme.

The 26 BFIS students were treated to lunch by the mentoring and alumni committee before they head overseas to continue their academic studies.

Jonathan Allen, co-chairman of the mentor networking committee, told the students of the benefits of having an industry mentor.

He also thanked professionals in the field for working with the programme and professional services firm PwC for providing the lunch venue.

Thirty-six per cent of the students are attending institutes in the US, the same percentage are going to schools in Canada, while 28 per cent have opted for Britain.

A total of six students are studying insurance and risk management, five in accountancy, five in business, four actuarial science or maths, four studying economics, one in finance and one law student.
