will be tried for murder on April 17.

Randy Hilton Burgess, 34, of St. David's, pleaded not guilty to the murder of Dean Antione Young when he appeared for arraignment yesterday in Supreme Court.

Currently on remand at Westgate Correctional Facility, Burgess will be represented by lawyer Mark Pettingill. Mr. Young was stabbed in the throat on Parson's Road, Pembroke, on October 9.

Chief Justice Austin Ward ordered that murder-accused Justis Smith return to court on March 1 when it is hoped the Privy Council -- Bermuda's highest court of appeal -- will have rendered its decision on whether he should have been acquitted by a judge for the premeditated murder of Canadian Rebecca Middleton in 1996.

Smith, of Deepdale, Pembroke, was released in December 1998, when Puisne Judge Vincent Meerabux recorded a "no case to answer'' verdict, freeing him on grounds of a lack of evidence and an abuse of process.

Saleem Tony Bukhari will be tried on April 3 for the manslaughter of Royal Gazette sub-editor Liz Cadell on May 31, 1997.

The former Policeman is accused of not aiding Ms Cadell, his girlfriend, after she took an overdose of aspirin.

Quinton George Ible will be tried on July 4 for causing the death of Humberto Pineda, of Middle Road, Devonshire on September 18, 1998.

Ible, 49, of Sandys Parish, is now represented by lawyer Delroy Duncan, who told Chief Justice Austin Ward a road traffic accident expert would be available then.

Two men will be tried on May 15 on charges they had cocaine on July 5, 1999.

Alexander Henry Leslie Ming, 42, of Warwick, and Kenneth Sinclair Durrant, 48, of Warwick both deny possessing and handling cocaine on that date.

Ming has also pleaded not guilty to importing cocaine between June 21 and July 5. Durrant has not been charged with importation.

And Tyrone Calvin Simmons, 26, and Shadonna Kelly Trott, 19, both of Cottage Hill, Hamilton Parish, did not have to enter a plea after their lawyers said they intended to challenge the wording of the indictment.

Trott's lawyer Delroy Duncan and Simmons' lawyer Kevin Bean, holding for Victoria Pearman must have the relevant paperwork in by February 14.

The two are to return on March 1 for arraignment.
