Rain stops play for the second year
The threat of heavy rain has forced the Bermuda Cricket Board to postpone all senior and junior cricket scheduled for today, including the Twenty20 finals at Somerset Cricket Club.
Heavy rain yesterday and the forecast of more to come prompted the BCB to call off the matches, with the T20 finals falling victim to the weather for the second straight year.
Holders Bailey’s Bay were to meet Southampton Rangers in the Premier Division final while Somerset and St George’s were to meet in the First Division match.
Also off are the matches in the under-eight, under-14 and PDL, while tomorrow’s three First Division matches have all been postponed, and set aside to be played on a Saturday later in the season. They are Devonshire Rec against PHC; St George’s versus Somerset Bridge and Somerset CC against Warwick.
This evening’s draft for the inaugural Warrington “Soup” Zuill Masters T20 League, scheduled for Ocean View Golf Club, has also been postponed.
Some 84 players have put their name forward to play in the six-team league, which is scheduled to start next month with matches at St David’s, Bailey’s Bay and Somerset.
