City supporters put their shirt on Goater

Manchester City fans can literally put their shirt on super striker Shaun Goater hitting the back of the net for the Blues.

For the Bermudian frontman has had a special edition T-shirt produced in his honour after notching a century of goals for the Premiership club. It is emblazoned with the logo `Who Let the Goat Out?'

Goater's double strike against Manchester United the weekend before last led to City picking up a special award from the Scottish Life company who decided it was the performance of the week.

After receiving the award Goater said: "All I can say is they seem to love me here . . . I can't do anything wrong.

"I have kept myself out of town all week after Saturday's game trying to keep a low profile."

Goater's goals have gone down in City folklore and the first, scored after he robbed England defender Gary Neville on the byline was particularly sweet.

"It was a one in a hundred chance that I would get a goal from that position," he said. "I was chasing a lost cause and got a bit of luck."

Goater - who reckons a top ten place for the Blues is a realistic target, despite their loss to Charlton at the weekend - said he found the going easier than he expected against United's defensive duo of Rio Ferdinand and Lauren Blanc.

"They didn't seem very talkative and that is always an indication to me how good your opponents are," he said.

Meanwhile, fellow Bermudian Kyle Lightbourne was a happy man after his goal helped Macclesfield Town to a magnificent 3-0 FA Cup win at in-form Hull City at the weekend.

Lightbourne returned to haunt his former club with a well-taken finish.

"It was another good result for us and we did everything we needed to," he said afterwards.

"I thought we played really well in the first half and I think we frustrated them a bit, then we got the third. But it's great to come back here and win again.''

Macclesfield's reward is a trip to either Vauxhall Motors or Queen's Park Rangers.
