Tynes Bay – a third stream is planned for 2011. The 'Waste to Energy' facility already powers 2,500 homes and Government says the expansion will bring "a significant increase in renewable energy".

Government says it "supports Belco's efforts at diversifying its energy sources so that Bermuda will be less reliant on fossil fuels going forward" and said it wil encourage alternative energy uses, including offshore wind power.

Zero duty for emission-free electric cars.

Recycling: Government opened the new $8.35 million Recycling Plant in April at Bailey's Bay Quarry.

Pollution: Government says it will introduce mandatory emissions standards.

Legislation to ensure all imported vehicles meet the minimum emissions standards from their country of origin.

Emissions testing for all motorised vehicles.

Government says it has encouraged the use of carpooling and school buses, and has made improvements to public transport with "the introduction of several fast ferries and mini-buses".

Replacing invasive species with endemic ones. The Department of Planning stipulates that new developments must plant endemic and native species. New residential properties receive a landscaping voucher for plants from the Department of Parks' Tulo Valley Nursery.
