Herbie cracks hat-trick

Veteran Herbie Bascome kept St. George's at the top of the First Division with a hat-trick in this hard fought game at Lord's yesterday.

Parish once led 2-1 but thanks to Bascome, St. George's rebounded. Also netting for the East Enders was Mackie Crane. Scoring for Parish were Irving Burgess, Irving Romaine and Corey Hill.

St. David's 2 Prospect 0 St. David's left it late before gaining the initiative over a tough Prospect team at Lord's.

After a closely contested first-half during which neither team created many clear cut shots, the young St. David's team slowly gained the edge but had to wait until the 70th minute before taking the lead. O.J.Minors put them ahead with a fine effort and then two minutes from time they put the result out of reach when Angelo Cannonier netted.

Paget 2 Social Club 1 Paget stayed within striking distance of league leaders St. George's with this hard fought 2-1 victory at White Hill Field.

The home side were shocked early by a Robert Hudson goal. However, they got back on level terms through Omar Shakir in the 33rd minute. It was left to Jermayn Pond to decide matters as he converted in the 72nd minute.

Paget remain a point behind St. George's, although the East Enders have played one game less.

Two goals on either side of the interval served Rangers well, with Wendell Anderson and Mathyio Simons finding the net in the first half and Clifton Anderson and Jonathan Bean hitting the target in the second.

Rodre Wilson netted the lone Eagles tally but could have had another as he missed a penalty with his side trailing 1-3.

Rangers thus made a big leap up the standings, going from eighth to fourth.

Women's Konica Cup PHC 2 Rude Girls 2 Two-goal heroines Jaquita Dill and Waynesha Bean, ensured honours were even between PHC and Rude Girls in the Konica Cup at Somerset yesterday.

Bean struck first in the 38th minute for PHC, before Dill drew her side level in the 55th and then put them ahead in the 80th.

But Bean had the last word, equalising just a minute later.

Dandy Stars 1 PHC Royals 3 Tanya Semos scored a second-half double as PHC Royals came back from a goal down to defeat Dandy Stars in this cup clash at St. John's Field yesterday.

Mia Burgess put Stars ahead in the fourth minute, a lead they held until half-time.

But Semos equalised four minutes into the second half and Cheyra Bell put Royals ahead in the 70th minute. Semos sealed victory for Royals with her second goal five minutes from time.
