Upgraded health and stress management facility opens
prestigious as a Saudi Arabian prince, has opened in Hamilton.
Mr. Robert Lightbourne, who is well-known to local athletes for treating sports injuries, has called his business the Healthline Fitness Centre.
He previously ran his massage therapy and health and fitness service singlehandedly, but will now work with Mr. Vince Seaman, who will provide massage therapy, coaching and fitness training.
His business, originally started in 1980, is the oldest fitness and wellbeing centre in Bermuda, he said. He previously worked in the hospital's physiotherapy department and was a champion cyclist in Bermuda during the Seventies.
Now the centre, recently relocated on Union and Dundonald Streets, will offer a complete stress management programme, a dieting programme as well as gym facilities and sports injury care.
Individuals are put on special programmes, which examine dietary and exercise needs, combining a complete holistic approach.
"I treat the whole person, the mind and body as well as the spirit,'' said Mr. Lightbourne. "We believe that stress is the biggest killer,'' he said.
Other relaxation aids include steam baths, whirlpools, aromatherapy, stretching and posture advice.
The average cost of a one-on-one session is $30 to $35 an hour. "We make health and exercise fun,'' said Mr. Lightbourne. "I believe that most Bermudian's know more about their computers, houses and cars than their own bodies,'' he said.
Mr. Lightbourne is acting as a consultant to the Bank of Bermuda, which is setting up a new gym in its new offices on Bermudiana road.
