A US travel personality praised the rules imposed to protect against Covid-19 on a trip to Bermuda last weekend.

Evita Robinson, the founder of Nomadness Travel Tribe, added that other countries should follow the island’s example.

She said in a video posted to her Facebook page, which has almost 6,000 followers: “I only came because of the measures.

“I knew a little bit, but to actually be here in Bermuda and to see the way that they have put this forward, is just like … everybody needs to take a page out of their book … absolutely everybody.”

Ms Robinson highlighted that her comments were not part of a paid advert and she was not asked to make them.

She said: “I want you guys to have the information because if you’re going to make the decisions about travelling during Covid, I want to make sure that you are as informed as humanly possible.”

Ms Robinson added that she was “more on the paranoid and uber-prepared side of things” when it came to trips overseas during the pandemic.

She highlighted the travel authorisation form that had to be submitted and approved before visitors flew to Bermuda.

Ms Robinson, who started her online travel group in 2011 and has seen it grow to more than 25,000 members around the world, also told viewers about her experience after she touched down at the airport.

She said: “There are these lines, there is a medical professional that’s at the end of these lines in full garb and they give you a paper in which you have to document your temperature twice a day.

“If it ever goes over 100F you have to immediately contact the e-mail and the phone number that they give you.

“Also, you have to take another Covid test right when you land.”

Ms Robinson, a public speaker and media host, recommended that travellers arrange transport from the airport before they flew.

She added that the hotel she stayed at – not identified in the video she shot on the island, but later named as the Hamilton Princess – gave guests an “isolation key” upon arrival.

Ms Robinson said: “This blew my mind and was one of the most impressive parts of this whole thing so far.

“Essentially what it is, is it allows you to get into your hotel room once.”

She added: “You can get out but you can’t get back in, so they will know if you left and tried to break the quarantine that you have to have, because you cannot leave your hotel room until you get the results back from the airport.

“On average, like eight to ten hours is what it’s been taking to get those results back.

“I got it back in like seven, eight hours and it came back negative.”

Ms Robinson said: “Once you get the negative test back you have to … forward that e-mail to the concierge of the hotel and only then are you allowed to leave your room, go down to the front desk and get a normal key card.

“They won’t even let you walk around the property at this hotel if you do not have a negative Covid test.”

Ms Robinson said the isolation key made her feel “so much better”.

She added that hand sanitisers were set up throughout the hotel and that people wore masks in public spaces.

Ms Robinson said she was also “impressed” that the hotel provided brown bags for diners to store their masks when at a table.

She added: “It’s super efficient and so well thought-out and so simple.

“It’s simple things that would affect so much and it can just make everybody’s situation here so much better."
