Exhibit an ode to Island colour
Masterworks Gallery under the "Artists Up Front Street'' series this weekend, it will feature an entirely new body of work.
"I have changed my colours, sizes and ideas behind my work,'' Miss Troncossi explains. "These paintings are about Bermuda. I am showing my gratitude to Bermuda's colours, especially those of our houses: pinks, greens, peach, yellow -- all in pastel.'' The concept stems from the artist's observations of the countryside as she travels around the Island on her motorbike.
"If you look quickly over your shoulder while driving to an area where there are lots of houses, you see a flash of pastel colours merging together,'' Miss Troncossi says. "This body of work uses that idea.'' Beyond what she has observed en passant, the artist says her new works also incorporate Bermuda postage stamps, "giving the viewer the idea of old Bermuda''.
"This is a contrast between colour from Bermuda homes and old stamps,'' she explains. "Each painting has its own personality.
"They are fun and light to look at. It is a new way of looking at Bermuda houses. The paintings are flashes of colour of our architecture.'' Bermuda Houses opens to the public tomorrow and runs until July 27. For further information telephone 295-5580.
