The P4 Woolridge creative writing class at Elliot Primary has shared some of the work of its students.

They have written on topics such as animal cruelty, bullying, littering, scary movies, gun violence and immigration.

Over the coming weeks we will be featuring these students’ thoughts on life and Bermuda.

• Nana Yaw Boadi: Why Do People Bully Others?

Friendships get lost when people bully. Victims stop speaking to persons who bully them. Family friendships can become separated.

I believe that bullying has many disadvantages. People get injured. These people may need to go to the nurse or doctor for treatment.

People being bullied also feel sad. Victims of bullying tell others their feelings. They might see someone crying with their head down. A person that is being bullied might want to spend their time alone.

So now put yourself in a victim’s position. Would you want to be bullied by another person, or would you prefer to be treated fairly?

After you answer these simple questions, I am sure you will agree with me that bullying is wrong.

• Kan-Xia Douglas: Littering Doesn’t Rule

Why are so many people littering? I believe that people litter because they like to. Is littering a good or a bad thing? I am personally against littering.

I believe that littering has many disadvantages. When visitors come to Bermuda, they think that all the trash looks bad. They could decide not to visit us again.

Littering can also have a negative impact on animals. Dumping lots of trash is not good because animals may think that the trash is their food. They could end up getting sick or even dying.

Littering can cause extra work for people who clean our streets. Workers end up working longer hours than usual. Working on weekends and holidays sometimes becomes normal.

They miss time with their families. These workers also spend less time maintaining the beauty of our Island and more time clearing up litter.

So, in conclusion, we’ve talked a lot about littering. Do you enjoy picking up lots of trash or flowers that have been destroyed?

Would you prefer to live in a clean environment or one filled with litter? We all know what your answer is. Let’s tell everyone that littering is terrible!
