of the Eastern, Western and Central Police offices. Students across the Island were asked to write about what they would do if they were Commissioner of Police If I were Commissioner of Police it would be a very challenging experience. It is a position that some strive for and others have no desire for, because of the enormous amount of responsibility. As Police Commissioner I would have to ensure that all Police officers are properly trained in law and know their responsibility to the community. Every Police Officer is responsible for detecting and preventing crime, preserving life and property. Apprehending and bringing justice those who break the law. Here are some things that I would hope to achieve as Commissioner. To see that everyone is given an equal opportunity to advance their career. Also, to ensure that there is harmony among the force. To have in place a programme whereby Police Officers can express their feelings without being judged. To encourage young Bermudian males to consider the Police Force as a career choice, if successful, this will help to make the Force majority Bermudian. To restructure the Junior Cadet Scheme within the schools, by making it more interesting and attractive.
As a result of the new scheme, I would hope to achieve a better relationship between the youth and Police. To have programmes and courses which will train and prepare Bermudian officers to fill the position as Commissioner of Police.
By doing this, it would not be necessary for the Bermuda Government to employ a foreigner. These are just a few things I would hope to achieve as Commissioner of Police. MINI SUPPLEMENT SUP
