The Island’s pool of notaries public is due to be expanded, under a piece of legislation approved by Friday’s Senate.

The Bermuda Bar Amendment Act 2015 was brought before the Upper House by One Bermuda Alliance Senator Georgia Marshall.

The requirement that all local notaries public must have Bermuda status will be done away with, Senator Marshall said.

In addition, the number of jurisdictions from which overseas notaries public can be enrolled in Bermuda will be expanded to include any qualified person from a Commonwealth jurisdiction.
