St George’s man charged with sexual offence

A 30-year-old St George’s man this morning faced charges of serious sexual assault as well as aggravated burglary.

The court heard that the defendant allegedly threatened to use a knife against his victim during the sexual offence.

The burglary took place on Tribe Road number two in Warwick on November 4 where the defendant allegedly caused bodily harm.

The accused was not required to enter a plea as his charges are indictable and must be heard by the Supreme Court.

Following arguments by Saul Dismont in defence and Cindy Clarke prosecuting, Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo released the defendant on $10,000 bail on the condition that he wear an electronic monitoring tag, abide by a nightly curfew and report to the Police Station on a regular basis. The defendant must also avoid any contact with the victim of the sexual assault.

The matter is expected to return to the court on January 23 to be mentioned.

The defendant pleaded guilty to two separate charges, one of disobeying a traffic sign for which he was given two points on his licence, and for failing to stop his vehicle for police for which he incurred five points.
