A Pembroke man has denied threatening to kill a woman.

Tory Hassel, 51, pleaded not guilty in Magistrates’ Court yesterday to using threatening words in a public place.

The court heard he allegedly shouted: “Yani better kill you before I kill you. I will burn down your house, it’s not yours.”

The offence is said to have taken place on Dundonald Street, Hamilton, on November 27.

Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo granted Mr Hassel bail of $1,000.

A trial date was set for February 10.
